A Development Consulting and Brokerage & Leasing Project
Savannah, Georgia
The involvement of Gilbert & Lattimore Commercial Real Estate, LLC in the Mulberry at Godley Station project goes back to the fourth quarter of 2001 when The Foxfield Company closed on the property with U. C. Realty Corporation. Harry Kitchen, President of the Foxfield Company and Harvey Gilbert, then Savannah Region Manager for The Branigar Organization recognized the unique attributes of the Mulberry tract including its 3,500 feet of frontage on Interstate 95 with access from the Pooler Parkway and Jimmy Deloach Parkway interchanges and its proximity to the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, Savannah’s major employers such as Gulfstream Aerospace and JCB, and the GPA’s deep water container port.
Both Kitchen and Gilbert envisioned this 115-acre parcel as the most strategically located mixed-use development parcel along Interstate 95 between the SC Exit 8 to Hilton Head Island and the Georgia Florida border. From the beginning, the developer recognized the potential to create a dynamic mixed-use project with neighborhood and regional retail components, as well as hotels/motels, restaurants and corporate offices. The Mulberry location in Godley Station provided a strategic location for serving the nine county region of coastal Georgia and the Beaufort, Hardeeville and Hilton Head Island areas of South Carolina.
The strategic plan for The Foxfield Company was to execute a Master Plan that could not be replicated in the local market and develop the park over a ten year period as the Godley Station project matured and West Chatham County continued its exponential growth. In 2003 and 2004, the developer completed the master planning and engineering processes. In 2005, Harvey Gilbert began to market parcels at the Mulberry.
The Mulberry, which is zoned for up to 1.1 million square feet of office and retail development, is slated to become Savannah’s premier corporate office environment and highly amenitized office park with extensive landscaping, aesthetically pleasing entrances and a distinctive boulevard. Meticulous land planning combined with covenants and architectural guidelines have been adopted in order to help ensure an orderly progression of high quality development.

The 54,000 square foot Mulberry One building was completed in November, 2006 with Choate Construction Company and First National Bank occupying the anchor spaces on the first floor as The Mulberry’s lead Tenants. The Mulberry One building was designed to set a new standard for corporate offices in the Savannah metro area in terms of its distinctive architecture, strategic location and use of high quality construction materials to include the marble main lobby and wi-fi network.
In December of 2006, BB&T opened its West Chatham County branch at the Mulberry. The seven story, full service Embassy Suites hotel with 250 rooms is now under construction.
According to Harry Kitchen, President of The Foxfield Company, “Harvey Gilbert and his team executed the full range of commercial real estate services at The Mulberry including development consulting, parcel sales and office leasing. Harvey’s vision was an integral part of our tremendously successful project.”
Gilbert & Lattimore Commercial Real Estate, LLC is marketing the balance of the Mulberry tract based on an updated Master Plan prepared by Wakefield, Beasley and Associates to national developers seeking a strategically located, mixed-use development parcel located near the epicenter of the Interstate 95 corridor between Wilmington, NC and South Florida.
